Here is a super easy way to draw two parallel lines: Tape two pencils together.

Two pencils taped together

Two standard carpenter pencils taped together have a distance of 1/4 inch between each other.

Use spacers

In between the pencils, add popsicle sticks to get the desired distance.

Adding popcile sticks increases the distance to exactly 1/2 inch.

This can be super useful for layouts with letters for carved signs or decorations.
